Direct Light Studios by Dakin and Laura is one of our favorite Sacramento Videographers! They are based in Folsom and do wedding videography throughout Sacramento and California.
We met at a coffee shop before our first wedding shoot together, and honestly, we should have gotten married right then. After a full day of notably flirty tension, trying to impress each other by capturing our best work to date, we were positive we had lost our minds. Fast forward 8 months, we exchanged our own vows and a few years later we built Direct Light Studios. Creating films together was undoubtedly our calling. We each have complementary strengths which make us better creatives. Our favorite part of what we do is meeting and sharing experiences with people. Through our work, we have learned from, connected with and made friends who have forever made an impact on our lives.
There’s no formula to how we make our films. We care about each one of our clients as though they are family, and their film is as unique as their love story. Our clients have peace of mind when working with us because our decade of experience has prepared us to be proactive about capturing their most important moments. We purposefully seek to work with each of our client’s vendors as one team, so that everyone’s art shines in delivering the best of the best from each part of the wedding day.
What is the best advice you have for couples deciding on Videography for their wedding?
Tip 1: Writing your vows to each other is a great way to add an extra personalized element to your film! Nobody tells your story better than you, and your films are narrated by the words that are spoken during your ceremony and toasts. This is a great opportunity to authentically include how you met, what falling in love felt like and how you feel about each other now on your wedding day. Years from now, when you are watching your film, you will be so glad that you did it!
Tip 2: Build in extra time on your day to spend some quiet moments your new spouse, your videographer and photographer. The more time we get to spend with you, the better! A great way to build this in is by having a first look, in addition to your portrait session. Some of the most beautiful footage that we have shot was captured during this time, especially during “golden hour,” just before the sun sets. We have heard from many of our couples that these moments are the most relaxing part of the day and that it was so nice to have some quiet time to soak everything in.
