Michelle and Dan’s engagement session was so much fun! They originally wanted to shoot in Apple Hill, but they felt that too many people do that sort of thing. So they asked us if we had any ideas… and of course we did! So Kristina and I gave them some San Francisco-options and they loved them!

Michelle and Dan decided to have the shoot on Sunday the 24th of March at one of the locations we requested: The Soda Fountain Ice Cream Bar right in the heart of Cole Valley, San Francisco, California. Since we were shooting in a 1950’s-themed ice cream shop, they decided that they should dress from the 50’s! Themed engagement sessions always turn out really cool and are a fun way to have a session that is unique. And that’s exactly what this couple wanted- not to be a typical engagement session. So we dallied around in the ice cream shop and took some amazing pictures!

Once we were done with the 50’s shoot, we added their son to the session, Cooper the Boxer. Lil’ Cooper was accompanied by dog sitters (father-of-the-groom and company) who watched him when he wasn’t in the shots and were there to grab his attention. Thanks Sitters!! Since we had Cooper, we hit up Golden Gate Park to get some of Cooper playing with his parents, Michelle and Dan. Luckily, at this time the sun was setting perfectly so we were able to get some great park shots.
After that, we hit the streets of San Francisco’s Cole Valley. We posed by a garage door that was completely tagged up with graffiti. This made for a great urban backdrop and allowed us to capture some unique shots. As we strolled a little further down, we found a music store that was framed with pink neon lights. This was exactly what the couple and I were looking for: lights! Nighttime was rolling in on us, so we decided to call it a night after this location.
As we walked to our cars, we discussed their wedding that is merely 6 months away!! We are all counting down! Both the ceremony and the reception will be held at the Kenyon Estate in Vallejo, California in September 2013. I can talk “wedding details” all day!
My assistant Lluvia and I then went to The American Cupcakeon Union Street to grab some snacks for the ride home. The cupcakes were delicious! Both my assistant and I plan on returning soon!
